What a morning to remember! On Friday the 7th of November, the Rotorua community came together at the Distinction Hotel to support the Child Cancer Foundation at our annual fundraising breakfast. From heartfelt guest speakers; Philly Angus, Josie Sturm and Hazel McLean, to the live auction and Kapa Haka performance from Otonga School, the event served as a powerful reminder of what makes our community so special: compassion, connection, and collective care.
A morning of stories, support, and generosity
The morning kicked off bright and early with breakfast and coffee, and a full house of more than 190 people. Highlights included the live auction of nine original artworks created by children supported by the Foundation, as well as lots of high value items. There was also a silent auction featuring more than 16 items generously donated by local businesses. One standout piece, was a weekend getaway at a Lake Whakamaru holiday home, which sold for $1,400.
By the end of the morning, the community had come together to raise an incredible $26,313.18 - with proceeds going directly to the Child Cancer Foundation to help families across Aotearoa through some of their hardest moments.
A legacy of community giving
This event has a long and proud history in Rotorua. It was first launched in 1994, when our office operated as Professionals Rotorua, and has continued annually ever since - now proudly under the EVES Real Estate brand. Over the past three decades, the breakfast has become a much-loved local tradition, raising tens of thousands of dollars to help ensure Kiwi families never face childhood cancer alone.
You can continue to support the Child Cancer Foundation by donating directly via childcancer.org.nz. At EVES, we're proud to stand alongside the Child Cancer Foundation and the wider Rotorua community - beacuse community isn't just where we work, it's who we are.
